Just come back from an excellent event in central London – Green Unplugged, put together by John Horsley of the Green UK Linkedin group.
From a GreenAudIT perspective the growing awareness of organisations that they need to acknowledge Sustainability was very heartening. There also seems to be a thriving business stream of consultants and experts to help these organisations satisfy their own goals (eg profit and legal compliance), whilst improving greeness.
Robert Holdway of Giraffe reassured me that there are clever people out there who really know what is going on, and can make a difference.
The session on cutting waste through web based systems just touched on the massive contribution IT can make – a topic justifying more attention particularly for carbon savings.
Oliver Payne’s insights about 19 tips for effective messages from Hunting Dynasty was excellent, as were the discussions about social media.
Whatever business role we hold we are all people – so Andy Hobsbawm’s Do the Green Thing’s videos are a must, for a laugh and to get to the person behind the corporate position.
